Hi there, I'm Dan. I like to do good and I like to climb things. Most anything will do, but the bigger the better! I am 27, I am a Christian, I am the proud dad of two wonderful children, Eddy and Ahna. They are awesome.
I grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on a small farm. I thoroughly enjoyed country life, and along with my older brother, terrorized our land by building forts, river ways, having battles, burning things down and blowing things up (sorry about that Mom and Dad). I now live in both rural Wisconsin and Urban Minnesota, and enjoy the contrast.
With many thanks to my parents, I also learned to work very hard at a young age. Whether around the farm, or other work, they did a great job at preparing me for life. I started my first company when I was 17 and have built and sold three of my own companies to date. I have also consulted or have been employed to start three other companies in recent years. I am now working in real estate, which has been a lot of fun and quite challenging. God has blessed me continually throughout each endeavor and for this I am ever thankful! I firmly believe in choosing a life path that is enjoyable, and making others around me happy.
I also got a sense of adventure from an early age. Adventuring seems to run in the family. Crazy adventures in the Mexican drug hills, climbing mountains as a youngster, and many other experiences formed me and my brother and sister into quite an adventurous bunch. My dad dragged me up mountains as a kid and as a teenager started me on my first high altitude, snow climbs. I was soon hooked and dad and I have conquered numerous peaks and couloirs by both winter mountaineering and summer climbing.
Giving and helping thos less fortunate than myself is a true passion from my heart. I've worked in six different countries on various human rights and care-giving causes, and try to help anyone I can while back home. Its amazing how many people here at home need help! I believe in making a difference in others' lives whether at work, at home, out to eat, climbing, wherever! Join me on this adventure by helping starving children and afflicted people around the world.
I am glad you are joining me for this adventure!
"Climbing is deeply spiritual for me. It is as if I am standing with God on top of a mountain."
About Dan
9/1/2013 Today Dan and his Dad hiked 3 peaks, with an estimated elevation gain of 7900 feet total. They peaked Mt. Wilson at 10 a.m., did the traverse to El Diente, elevation = 14,159, and then hiked on to Wilson Peak, elevation = 14,017, peaking that at 4:52 p.m. It was a long, but good, day. At the end of the day, Dan and Forrest met up with Dan's Mom, Cathy, and her good friend, Dianne to eat dinner. Dan and Forrest then drove to Yankee Boy Basin Trailhead to hike Mt. Sneffels the next day.
